Winamp Vst Host Plugin

WinAmp VST Host is a DSP/Effect plug-in for WinAmp that hosts VST effect plug-ins allowing you to use your favourite VST plug-ins within WinAmp.

Popular Vst Plugins

Open Source

The STOLON VST plugin effect provides a three low CPU parallel pitch shifter but not only: - It can be used as a classic effect and/or like a polyphonic instrument driven by the midi keyboard. Winamp VST plugin. Winamp VST software is a DSP or Effect plugin for WinAmp that hosts VST effect plugins allowing you to use your most best VST plugins within WinAmp software. The VST mean professional audio effects. Although only one plugin is enebled, several plugins can be linked by using a VST Winamp plugins. Developer – Budde Christian. 2.Install this Winamp VST Host plugin, and open your preferences. Click on 'DSP/Effects' in the menu to the left, and highlight 'VST Host DSP v1.1.3 for winmp dspvst.dll'. When you have selected it, a new window should pop up.

New Free Vst Plugins

In this section you will find some plugins I created mostly as examples for the Delphi ASIO & VST open source project. Have a look at the source code or contribute to the project and modify all the plugins.
The order is more or less alphabetic.

NOTE: Cubase/Samplitude/Sequoia users might need to download the installer to disable the bug report system which sometimes hangs or crashes.

2-Band Distortion

I would say that it's just opposite: From foobar 1 betas there are less crashes when using the plugin and switching among different winamp DSP plugins while playback is active. The best way would be to stop playback then change winamp DSPs Also you can try winamp vst host through it and run Ozone as vst. Originally this plugin was planned for the KVR’09 developer contest, but in the end I missed the deadline by one day and thus I had to use another plugin for my entry. Download: 7z / Installer / 7z (64-bit beta) Spectral Gate. This plugin is a striped version of the ‘Noise Reduction’ plugin.

With “2-Band Distortion”, the low and high frequencies can be distorted separately. A Linkwitz-Riley filter is used for frequency splitting.

Advanced Clipper

The advanced clipper plugin features two stages with different oversampling and a final hard clip stage.

Amp Sim

A simple amplifier simulation roughly based on the mda plugin ‘mdaCombo’.

Audio Amelioration

Although this tool is not entirely complete, I decided to add this to the list of plugins as well. It features several audio processors to enhance the audio signal. However, right now I’m not convinced of the sound, so it’s more some kind of audio aggravation, but please decide yourself if you like!

Bass Extender

Experimental subbass extender plugin (based on a frequency divider and a low band compressor).
Download: 7z / Install

Chebyshev Waveshaper

A waveshaper based on the chebyshev polynom. It is also used in my “Christortion” plugin.

Dither & Noiseshaper

This plugin is simple implementation of a dither (with different distributions) and some commonly used noiseshapers. So far the noiseshapers have only been calculated for a samplerate of 44.1 kHz, but I thought to share the plugin anyway.

Exciter

A simple exciter plugin based on the chebyshev waveshaper and a modified Linkwitz-Riley splitter.

Freeverb

Yet another freeverb clone. Based on code from Jezar at Dreampoint and a GUI mock-up by thcilnnahoj
Download: 7z / Installer

Phase Rotator

Simple Phase Rotator implementation. This can be used to slightly delay certain frequencies. The result is a reduced peak level caused by smearing the transients.

Plate Reverb

This Plate Reverb effect is directly based on the Plate Reverb described in Jon Datorro’s “Effect Design” paper (part 1). Again the GUI is based on a GUI mock-up by thcilnnahoj

SoundTouch based Pitch Shifter

Based on the famous SoundTouch library, this plugin allows you to pitch shift any audio material without wasting too much CPU cycles.
Download: 7z / Installer

Free drum remover vst.

Split Harmonizer

Winamp Vst

Based on the famous SoundTouch library, this plugin allows you to detune, delay and mix two channels independently. Either Left/Right and Mid/Side processing is possible.

Hum Removal

This plugin is primarily meant for removing humming effectively leaving the audio information as intact as possible. Currently this plugin is not entirely finished as it is missing an automatic bandwidth detection and possible continous tracking instead of training by a hum profile. However, I’d like to add it here already to be previewed.

Noise Reduction

The Noise Reduction plugin is based on a spectral gate to filter out unwanted noise in the frequency domain. The gate is based on the lightweight dynamic series and features a soft knee and customizable attack and release times.
Originally this plugin was planned for the KVR’09 developer contest, but in the end I missed the deadline by one day and thus I had to use another plugin for my entry.

Spectral Gate

This plugin is a striped version of the ‘Noise Reduction’ plugin. Instead of a noise profile it uses a fixed threshold across all frequencies. It might not deliver results as good as the above plugin, but might be nice for other applications anyway.

Party-Delay

The ‘Party Delay’ is a nice little delay effect combined with a filter and a frequency shifter.

VST Pascal Script

With this plugin you can write simple DSP functions in pascal script. They will be interpreted in realtime (might be quite CPU hungry though).

Tetris

A Tetris clone compiled as VST.

VariableDelay

Just a simple variable delay (with subsample accuracy)

WinAmp

Before working on the ASIO LabVIEW interface, I started with something more simple. First I started to create a DSP plugin for WinAmp that allows the user to host any VST plugin and then I created the ASIO output plugin, which is more or less equal to the ASIO LabVIEW interface.

Winamp VST Host

With the Winamp VST Host it is possible to host any VST plugin in Winamp. Although only one plugin is allowed, several plugins can be chained by using a VST “chain” plugin.

Below all different versions are listed. Depending on your setup (Windows version, Media Player, VST Plugin) it might be more stable to use an older version!

Download: v1.0 [Installer, 250 kB]
Download: v1.1 [Installer, 506 kB]
Download: v1.1.1 [Installer, 655 kB]
Download: v1.1.3 [Installer, 655 kB]
Download: v1.1.4 [Installer, 648 kB]
Download: v1.1.5 [Installer, 719 kB]
Download: v1.1.6 [Installer, 719 kB]

NOTE: Since the WinAmp interface is not well defined and there are approx. 3000 different VST plugins I can not guarantee the bridge is working in any situation. I’ll update the bridge every now and then, but I stopped the major development as I’ve already spent too much time for only little improvements!

Oversampling feature

The oversampling feature increases the sampling rate by a factor of two and thus doubles the accuracy. This is in particular useful for plugins that contain or produce non-linear distortion. Any non-linear distortion in a digital system does contain aliasing, but with oversampling the aliasing will occur most probably in the higher frequency range. This range is not only inaudible, but also not present in the original material (since it has a lower sampling rate). For this reason the new higher frequency range is attenuated effectively reducing the aliasing.

Winamp ASIO Output

The Winamp ASIO Output plugin allows you to use any ASIO soundcard natively in Winamp.
In general the Winamp interface does not work well with ASIO, so using this is not recommended, also because it is still in a beta phase of the development.
